Art in Your School

Young Picassos teacher Angelina Rodriguez leads an art class.

The Young Picassos after school art program is designed to promote compassion, creativity, and socio-emotional growth in children. Students will develop their self-esteem while also having fun creating art in an inspiring, supportive classroom setting. Each class incorporates Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to teach children the skills necessary to understand and manage emotions.

In our art classes, students will…

  • Create Fun and Exciting Art Projects
  • Learn How to Paint, Draw and Sculpt
  • Explore Art History
  • Express Themselves Visually
  • Develop Emotional Intelligence and Resilience

The Young Picassos art program was founded in 2011 by Angelina Rodriguez, a licensed Psychotherapist and certified art therapist. Prior to Young Picassos, Rodriguez was a counselor for the Houston Independent School District. In addition to her professional career as an educator, counselor, and therapist, Rodriguez has been a professional artist for over 25 years. She has served as an art faculty member at the Art Institute of Houston and at Houston Community College.

Each class is led by a TEA certified teacher, and our curriculum was created by a Master Level Art Therapist and Licensed Therapist.

Young Picassos after school classes have been at the following schools:
